Multiple Discord accounts at the same time
One account for your friends, another for the community you moderate, and Discord will only show you one. Neither the desktop client nor the site has an account switcher: you sign out, then sign back in.
Why Discord shows one account
Discord identifies a session by a token stored in the site’s data, and there is exactly one slot for that token per browser profile. The desktop client is itself a packaged web app: it uses the same mechanism and inherits the same limit. Signing in elsewhere replaces the token already there.
Anyone who moderates knows the consequence: every change of hat costs a sign-out, a sign-in, and usually a two-factor prompt.
What Discord’s rules allow
That is why Nexus loads discord.com as it is, injecting no script and altering no interface. From Discord’s side it is one more ordinary web session.

The fourth row circulates widely on forums. It works, and it exposes your account: modified clients fall under the explicit ban on third-party clients.
Two Discord accounts with Nexus
- Install Nexus and open it.
- Add Discord from the catalogue, then sign in with your main account.
- Add Discord a second time: the new session is blank, so sign in with the second account.
- Rename the two entries, “Personal” and “Moderation”, to spot them in the sidebar.
Both accounts stay connected in parallel. Each keeps its own unread badge, mute setting and Ctrl+N shortcut. No more signing out, no more repeated two-factor prompts.
What Nexus does not do
- No change to Discord’s interface: no theme, no plugin, no injected script.
- No automation: Nexus does not send messages, read content, or sit inside the protocol.
- No data sent anywhere: everything stays in the local session, on your machine.
Common questions
- Is there a risk of being banned?
- Holding several accounts is not forbidden by Discord. Automating a user account or using a modified client is. Nexus loads the official site without modifying it, which places it outside that category. If a particular use gives you doubt, the terms of service are the authority.
- Do voice calls work?
- Yes. Discord in the browser handles voice, and Nexus exposes the microphone once you allow it. A few features stay exclusive to the native client, such as the in-game overlay.
- Can I get notifications from both accounts?
- Yes, they are native Windows notifications, and each service mutes independently. The moderation account can stay silent while the personal one rings.
- How many accounts can I add?
- The application sets no limit. Each service uses memory much as a tab would, and per-service sleep returns it to the system while you are not using it.
